City Clerk

The City of Wheatland City Clerk performs many duties vital to the daily operations of our local government. Listed below you will find many of the duties performed.
  • Perform general office duties, typing or proofreading correspondence, distributing or filing official forms, or scheduling appointments.
  • Issue public notification of all official activities or meetings.
  • Collaborate with City Council and other staff to assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, or priorities.
  • Plan and direct the maintenance, filing, safekeeping, and computerization of all municipal documents.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and packets of related information.
  • Prepare annual budget and financial statements.
  • Prepare ordinances, resolutions, or proclamations so that they can be executed, recorded, archived, or distributed.
  • Maintain fiscal records and accounts.
  • Serve as a notary of the public.
  • Issue licenses, such as business/merchant and liquor, and collect appropriate fees.
  • Prepare water, sewer and trash bills, and collect payments.
  • Prepare real estate and personal property tax bills, and collect payment.
  • Respond to requests for information from the public, other municipalities, state officials, or state and federal legislative offices.
  • Manages grant information and payments to contractors and engineers.
  • Maintains all financial records, such as accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll, balance bank statements and preparing for audit.
  • Manages requests to speak to Council
